Japan’s clothing imports up 3.5% in H1 FY25, machinery exports drop

Japan’s clothing and accessory imports rose by 3.5 per cent to 1,842,869 million yen in the first half of fiscal 2024-25.
Imports of textile yarn and fabric increased by 2.2 per cent, while exports of textile yarn and fabric grew by 6.8 per cent.
However, exports of textile machinery fell by 25 per cent.
In September 2024, imports of clothing and accessories declined by 8.3 per cent year-on-year.

Vietnam boosts economic ties with Japan amid growing apparel exports

Vietnamese government has formed a ministerial group to accelerate economic projects with Japan, a key trade partner.
Japan is Vietnam’s second-largest market for apparel exports, which totalled $2.684 billion from January to August 2024.

Italian brand Salvatore Ferragamo’s revenue drops 7.2% YoY in Q3 FY24

US brand Levi Strauss launches roadmap to achieve Net Zero by 2050

Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.) has released its inaugural climate transition plan, aiming for Net Zero emissions by 2050.

UK’s clothing exports down 21% to $343 mn in August 2024

In August 2024, UK clothing exports dropped 21.4 per cent year-on-year to £263 million (~$343.8 million) but rose slightly from July.
Textile fabric exports grew 8.85 per cent year-on-year to £209 million, though they fell month-on-month, while fibre exports decreased to £43 million.
For Q2 2024, clothing exports reached £837 million.
In 2023, total clothing exports declined to £3.772 billion.
