Bangladesh’s BGMEA wants manual customs clearance due to software bug

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association has requested customs authorities for manual clearance of RMG consignments following issues with the updated Asycuda World System used for processing shipments.
The problems started on September 20, and have disrupted the submission of import and export general manifests, invoice verification and the overall customs clearance process

Turkiye’s apparel exports drop 6.17% in 2024 despite August recovery

Turkiye’s apparel exports declined by 6.17 per cent year-on-year to $11,736 million in January-August 2024, with knitted clothing falling 3.4 per cent and non-knitted apparel dropping 9.5 per cent.
However, exports in August 2024 increased by 3.19 per cent, reaching $1,615.565 million.
In 2023, apparel exports fell 5.86 per cent to $18,321 million.

10% Brits to buy most clothes second-hand over next year: Oxfam survey

An Oxfam survey revealed one in ten people in the United Kingdom say the majority of the clothes they buy over the next year will be second-hand.
The findings also show 63 per cent of Brits say they plan to buy at least some preloved items for their wardrobe over the next 12 months.
Forty-one per cent of UK adults now buy and wear more second-hand clothing than they did two years ago.
