US tariff row: Russia far from being a key apparel market for India

India’s garment exports face risks from US tariffs of 25 per cent and a possible additional duty, while efforts to boost trade with Russia show weak results.
Exports to Russia fell 35.94 per cent to $25.109 million in January–May 2025, just 0.33 per cent of India’s $7.566 billion total.
By contrast, the US accounted for $2.524 billion, or 33.36 per cent, highlighting India’s continued market dependence.
