US apparel imports from Africa see 5% drop to $1,909 mn in Jan-Aug

From January to August 2024, US apparel imports from Africa fell by 5.02 per cent, totalling $1.91 billion, compared to $2.01 billion in the same period last year.
Trousers and shorts led imports, followed by shirts, jerseys, T-shirts, and innerwear.
Despite Africa’s growing role as a low-cost garment exporter, it accounted for just 3.57 per cent of the US’ $54.1 billion apparel imports.
