Tiruppur’s garment exports stood at ₹42,544.40 crore ($4.4 billion) in fiscal 2025-26, down 4.91 per cent year on year due to US tariff issues and disruptions from the West Asia crisis, according to TEA.
Despite the decline, the knitwear hub remained resilient and sees growth opportunities through FTAs, MMF garments, sustainability initiatives, and rising export demand.

Torrid Holdings reported first-quarter FY26 net sales of $245.8 million, down 7.6 per cent year-on-year, while net income fell to $0.4 million from $5.9 million.
Comparable sales declined 1.7 per cent and adjusted EBITDA dropped to $17.6 million.
The company closed 20 stores during the quarter and expects FY26 net sales between $940 million and $960 million.

Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) exports fell 3.41 per cent year-on-year to $35.31 billion during July 2025-May 2026, with knitwear exports down 4.26 per cent and woven garments down 2.42 per cent.
Home textile exports rose 3.48 per cent to $853.26 million, while cotton product exports declined 11.23 per cent.
RMG and home textiles accounted for 82.57 per cent of the country’s total exports.
